Netflix Originals for the Macbeth Characters; The 3 Witches

A bit of background information about each Netflix show/movie.

1. Stranger Things is a Netflix Series that has 2 seasons and is a group of male friends in the 1980’s. When the main character, Will, goes missing, his mom launches an investigation into how/why he disappeared. When they began searching, they unravel a series of mysteries involving a secret government experiment. They also unravel the supernatural forces while finding a very unusual girl that comes about.
2. The Good Place is an NBC Series that also streams on Netflix with 2 seasons and is about a woman who finds herself in the afterlife and she finds out that she wasn’t meant to be in the Good Place. She has a soul mate in the afterlife and he helps her become a “good person.” But in the midst of this, she has to hide that her being there is a mistake. Michael who is the creator of The Good Place and he is apart of a giant hierarchy of supernatural beings. We find out that The Good Place isn’t such a good place. (SPOILER!!!!!)
3. Naked is a new Netflix show that came out this year and stars Marlon Wayans and he is preparing to marry the girl of his dreams but he is incapable of getting to the altar. He is caught in a time loop and he continues to wake up in a hotel elevator over and over again, hence the name, Naked.
4. What Happened to Monday is a mystery/crime film that came out this year. In the film, these people are in a world where families are only allowed to have one child due to overpopulation. There are 7 identical sisters that live a somewhat, hide and seek existence. They must take on the world as the same person but in a different body. Each sister is named a day of the week- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They can only go out on their named day of the week. One day, Monday doesn’t come home hence the name of the film, What Happened to Monday.

Why these movies and tv shows?

Stranger Things is the first recommended tv show I would suggest them to watch because while looking for the young boy that died, he is overtaken by the upside down world. This world is ruled by the supernatural that has the power to take over the “real world.” In the science lab, the scientist are trying to find a way to kill the Demogorgon from the upside down world. But the scientist can’t quite find a way to kill them off. I think that they would enjoy watching this because it is a different way of attacking the people using their supernatural powers. Their element of supernatural is that they use animals that attack and can come through the body and take over. Similar to how the guilt of killing King Duncan is building up inside of Macbeth. The next show I would suggest since it is on the happier side of things is The Good Place because the supernatural is just one person and the person that is ruling the Good Place. The supernatural is undercover and their element is brainwashing the people to think that they are in The Good Place. They have the Good Place seem like everything is normal, food falling out of the sky or holes forming on the ground in a restaurant. The characters in the show have a “prophecy” that says they are to go to The Good place and meet their soulmate but it isn’t all happy and good. The first movie that I would recommend is Naked because it is a comedy but the main character is stuck on the same day for about 30 times and he doesn’t know how to get out. He is thrown obstacles and the first time he sees his “prophecy” that this day isn’t going to go as planned but besides that, he will be able to someday get to the altar. He begins to remember different ways of getting through the day and then getting to his wife. I think they would enjoy this but not like the fact that they aren’t known for being seen in the movie. Finally, I would suggest them to watch What Happened to Monday because they draw out how the sisters must live their life and they have to follow strict instructions. Monday doesn’t follow that instruction and her “prophecy” is to kill off all of her sisters but she fails to do this causing two of them to survive. This is similar to the Three Witches because she was supposed to follow the prophecy set in place but didn’t go through with it all the way. I think that overall all 4 movies and tv shows, the three witches would enjoy all of these because they would laugh and get upset knowing that people don’t follow instructions that are set in place for them and all the ruckus and chaos caused in each movie would brighten their day.
